Over a decade ago, when interest rates reached historic lows, we sought a new business opportunity. Our objective was to secure a long-term investment that could also function as a potential pension. Consequently, we opted to purchase a property for rental purposes.
The property selected had previously been let to students. While it complied with essential electrical and gas central heating standards, it required significant refurbishment. The kitchen was outdated, the ground floors exhibited dampness, and the overall décor was substandard. Drawing on our experience renovating multiple properties, we set about transforming it into an affordable and attractive home.
Following 18 months of renovation, the property was ready for tenants. The question then arose: how should we manage the letting? After careful consideration, we chose to market the property ourselves. Since that decision, we have not looked back.
We recognize that self-managing a rental property is not suitable for everyone. As self-employed individuals, we can engage with prospective tenants during business hours; however, this may not be feasible for those in traditional employment—many of our Letting Agency clients face this challenge. Managing your own property can be demanding and stressful. It is not uncommon to receive over a dozen applications for a single unit, necessitating difficult decisions when selecting tenants.
Despite these challenges, there is a profound satisfaction in providing an affordable, desirable home and securing reliable tenants, all while maintaining full control over the process.

Our service is available for a one-time upfront fee of £69. Should you later decide to entrust us with the management, this fee will be credited against our tenant-finding charge.
